Protect Your Vehicle This Summer

Summer brings to mind beautiful, sun-drenched days, fragrant, blossoming trees and the lyrical voices of birds. Yet, the very things that we enjoy most about summer present a serious threat to vehicles.

While bird droppings, tree sap and intense heat can cause permanent, costly paint damage, a good coat of wax, coupled with regular washing, will lessen the prospects.

If you choose to wax the vehicle yourself, you can enjoy the pleasures of the day and a sense of personal accomplishment. It is suggested that you:

  1. Start with a clean vehicle in a protected area. Dirt, sap and other particles can become imbedded during the waxing process

  2. Use a terry cloth towel or commercial applicator pad to apply the wax. Read the instructions carefully to determine the best method of application, i.e. wet or dry.

  3. Do small sections at a time, starting with the upper surface. Apply small amounts
of wax with an applicator using an even, circular motion.

  4. After the wax has dried to a haze, buff back and forth with a clean, soft towel. Turn the towel frequently to a clean, dry spot.

  5. Move on to another section and follow the steps above.

  6. Once you're finished, go over all the seams and non-painted surfaces to remove any remaining wax.

For those customers who prefer having their cars waxed professionally, McMahon Automotive Group offers special prices on detailing services.
